　　Dr. Uri Shani is an irrigation scientist and professor at Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.Prof. Shani obtained all his academic degrees in soilsciencefrom The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Dr. Shanihas publishedaround40 refereed journal articles on soiland water sciences.

　　Prof. Shani’s research interests include:optimization for crop yields and for the minimization of groundwater contamination of plant growing under saline and drought stresses;in situ (field) estimation of soil hydraulic properties; and continuous/high frequency micro-irrigation.
