主讲人简介:

Brian is currently an associate professor and bioprocessing engineer at the Department of Biological and Agricultural Eng. at the University of Idaho. He received his Ph.D. in Agricultural Eng. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2000. He also holds an MS degree in Biosystems Eng. from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1996. He received his BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering in 1983 and 1986, respectively, from Tianjin University, China. Before coming to the United States, Brian has worked at the Tianjin Petrochemical Research Center as an assistant process engineer, process engineer, and assistant research fellow.

Brian’s research interests are in the area of renewable energy and biofuels, mainly on chemical and thermochemical processes for renewable energy and value-added industrial products from bio-based resources. Since 2001, he as PI / co-PI has conducted multiple research projects of approximately $4 million funding. Brian has published 30+ peer-reviewed research papers in various technical journals. He has given over 50 technical presentations to various audiences. He teaches in the areas of transport processes, bioprocess eng., engineering analysis and design, agricultural process eng., computer programming, biomass thermochemical conversion technologies, biofuels, etc.

Brian is a licensed professional engineer of Chemical Eng. in Idaho. He is also an associate editor for the journals of Transactions of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) and Applied Eng. In Agriculture. Brian has been served as a proposal review panelist for multiple federal and state grant programs including USDA, US DOE and US EPA. He is an ad hoc reviewer for numerous scientific journals and grant programs. Brian also serves on national committees of professional organization.
