Dr. AviShavivis a soil scientist and professor at Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. Prof. Shavivis the head of Department of Environmental, Water and Agricultural Engineering, and the head of Grand Water Research Institute (GWRI) at Technion. Dr. Shaviv has published more than80 refereed journal articles and book chapters on soil and environmental sciences.

Prof. Shaviv’smain research interest focuses on physical chemistry of soil and environmental systems, whichincludes:

  ·Advanced isotopic and spectroscopy based methods to study nitrogen and phosphorus transformations in soils and sediment;

  ·Phosphorus dynamics in effluent irrigated soils using oxygen isotopic composition of phosphate;

  ·On line monitoring in soil and water systems using MidIR based spectroscopy;

  ·Long term effects of irrigation with reclaimed wastewater;

  ·Environmentally friendly fertilization approaches;

  ·Models of nitrogen and phosphorus dynamics in soils.
