报告人简介：

         Xiaofei Ye is a professor in Biosystems Engineering & Soil Science, the graduate director of department of Biosystems Engineering & Soil Science in the University of Tennessee, America.

         Xiaofei Ye has an appointment consisting of 70% in the Agricultural Experiment Station and 30% in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. He has been routinely teaching two core courses in the Biosystems Engineering curriculum and has been actively involved in recruiting and mentoring undergraduate/graduate students/postdoctoral researchers who are interested in Bioprocess Engineering. His long-term research goal is to work at the interface between biological systems and engineering processes to enhance the conversion of biorenewables into energy, chemicals, and materials. His research works synergistically with his long-term educational goal aspiring to train next generation of engineers who will bring together bio-sciences and process engineering to enable the use of renewable fuels, chemicals, and materials, and to protect our environment. Taking systematic approaches combining analytical techniques and engineering principles to address prioritized needs in the bioprocess engineering of bioenergy and biobased products, his research interests include:

  1. investigation of physicochemical properties of renewable resources;

  2. fundamental and applied catalysis in biomass conversion;

  3. process development and analysis for food, biofuels, and biochemicals;

  4.value-added products from biofuel waste stream and the technology transfer.

         His research has been sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture, the Department of Energy, the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, the United Soybean Board, and private industries. He is the recipient of international Glycerin Innovation Award presented by the American Oil Chemists’ Society in 2014.
